Southern Exposure

For the past several years, we have been slowly mapping the area around Greenville, SC – from the seemingly infinite rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains to dense cypress swamps and expansive marshes in the low country. With each trip, we discover a stunning spectacle that reveals itself in the clouds lifting from the valleys, the veiled waterfall tucked in the temperate rainforest, or an abandoned home left to collapse under the weight of Kudzu vines. And with each discovery a culture defined by the South slowly reveals itself.

Here are the stories and photographs inspired by our wanderings.
